Commiting to Change

Letters from the Executive Director

Change is not always an easy thing to embrace. Though we may really want to improve certain aspects of our lives or ourselves, often we resist the process that change sometimes demands of us. The grooves of past habits seem too deep to overcome. And in order to fill in those grooves we will most likely be pushed to our edges. We glance back at the familiar with longing and at our new vision for ourselves with distrust. What if a caterpillar refused to come out its cocoon not realizing its destiny as a beautiful butterfly?
Discomfort becomes our measuring stick of whether something is working or not. Yet discomfort is often part of the process of realizing the old. The cocoon can be a tough skin to shed before the butterfly emerges. We live in a culture that values fast food and multi-tasking. If something doesn’t appear to work, feel good, or have immediate results, we move on to the next “quick fix”. The price of this lifestyle is not having faith in one’s self. We seek healing from outside of ourselves instead of within.
At some point the honeymoon in any relationship or commitment we make will end, but often that is when true healing occurs and greater happiness becomes possible. But it requires us to stick with the process. As Gandhi said, “There is more to life than increasing its speed”. From the moment we incarnate into a body, our lives are comprised of births and deaths. The amount of upheaval we experience as a result is determined by whether we resist the changes or are neutral to them; whether we stick with the process of inner discovery or not. In the intuitive classes we offer at the Center, we work with finding neutrality and amusement in our experiences. Isn’t it more enjoyable to be amused at the “movies” we create for ourselves than resist or judge our creations?
We are creative beings full of infinite possibility. At any moment we can choose something different for ourselves. Inside of you, exist both Michelangelo and the perfection of David; the Creator and the Created. At the Center of Intuitive Development, we teach students how to release unwanted energy and old patterns through mediation and psychic tools. We instruct student in being present time and seeing their own answers so the perfection of each of our inner “David’s” can emerge. Join us for a class and be amused.
