Consciously Creating Your Life

“Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes, if I were always closed or always stretched open, it would be paralyzed.”
-Rumi

As summer slowly makes its descent into fall, I notice the mornings being cooler, some leaves are starting to show yellow and the smells are different in the air.  Nature and the seasons are such graceful teachers of change. Our bodies change, relationships change, jobs change and God willing, politics change.  We cannot not change no matter how we resist it.

The blessing of being a spirit in these bodies is we get to decide how we change.  Consciously or unconsciously, we create ourselves anew or a-old all the time.  We can decide to step out of the box and grow into different more desirable places in ourselves or we can keep choosing patterns that repeatedly lead to unhappiness.  It seems like an easy choice, doesn’t it?  Except you can’t use the same mind or thinking that got you into something to get you out of it.  One has to access higher mind, or the creative force within, to find a greater solution.  Focusing on what you don’t like in your life or yourself increases its value and staying power.  Shifting your focus to what you want to have begins to attract it to you.

Notice something in your life that you aren’t happy with.  Now, pay attention to your thoughts relating to this area – are you focusing on the conditions as they appear?  Or are you energizing what you want to experience with your thoughts and imagination?  A tool that we teach in the beginning classes is called the ‘mock up’.  This is consciously creating a mental image picture of what you want to experience as if it already exists.  Most everyone has had the experience of wanting something so much that you knew you would get it.  When one’s certainty is that high, you don’t let a little thing like physical appearances deter you.  You know what the box looks like.  After all, you created it.  Picture yourself outside of it in wonderful and exhilarating ways.  Let each thought bring you closer to the physical reality you want to experience.  And most importantly, have fun!
