Transforming Judgment

"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist." Friedrich Nietzsche
I’ve been reflecting lately on the energy of judgment. This energy likes
to focus on differences and believes in the illusion of separation
between people. Good to be amused with this energy. Choosing to be in a more open place, what we call the energy of neutrality at the Center, allows space for all experiences or opinions to be present without a need to fix them or change anyone.
When one is running the energy of judgment, there is a right and a
wrong, an us and a them, a me and a you. Time to bring in more energy of amusement. What would it be like if everyone could have their own truth and allow others the same without trying to change it?
I was recently having a conversation with someone about politics where we appeared to have very differing views. I observed myself initially not want to take in what this person was saying because I perceived them expressing their views aggressively. I found myself in that oh so serious energy of judgment. My body started to contract and my mind began to analyze how to defend my stance. As I listened, I worked my energy - meaning I grounded myself and watched as judgment and resistance kept arising. I just kept releasing it. It was fascinating to see how much the situation became a learning experience for me instead of the wrestling match it could have been. I kept bringing in more neutrality and amusement so I experienced peace with what was happening instead of buying into the concept that one of us had to be right and the other wrong.
Finally, I was able to listen with only love in my heart and I actually
learned some interesting information that made sense to me. But most
importantly, I learned that no matter how impossible it might feel to
turn a situation around, love is right around the corner waiting
patiently to soften the hard edges. In this case, I asked for help to
see the situation differently. And, voila, it happened. My mind lost
its’ grip on me and then there was no problem. There was no separation to be confirmed between the two of us, only a knowing that we were one in spirit and that lifted me beyond any sense of judgment.
We can disagree with someone and still be in our hearts. Being in touch with the love inside of me means I don’t want to invalidate you for having a different truth than mine. Equally important, I don’t have to abandon my own knowing to jump on your bandwagon. Love allows me to see that the ultimate truth is we are all a unique expression of God. To judge someone because they look or think differently than you do limits the richness available in this adventure we call life. It would be like going into a restaurant and having only one item on the menu. How boring! Might as well stay home where all the mirrors reflect the same image. To experience peace outside one has to first find it within. I wish you that peace (and a wonderfully diverse menu).
